Shaori Reservoir - Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti Regional Reservoir

Shaori Reservoir, or Shaori Lake - is the largest reservoir in Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti region, Ambrolauri municipality. It is located on the northern slope of the Racha ridge, in the Shaori cave. Created by an earthen dam overlooking the River Shaw. The Shawnee Reservoir stretches from southwest to northeast at a length of 7.1 kilometers, with a maximum width of 2.7 kilometers. The greatest depth is 14.5 meters, the average depth is 9.8 meters, the area is 9.2 km. Water volume is 90.6 million mW. It feeds on tributaries and sediments that fall to its surface (1500 mm per year). The cave is built of Lower Cretaceous carbonate rocks, where well-developed karst processes. There were small karst lakes in the cave - Kharistvali and Dzrikhistvali, which are covered with reservoir water. The banks of the reservoir are mostly low and sloping, in some places flat.
