History

  • Panshet, a village, is a historical monument located on the left bank of the river Tergi, 4 kilometers from the town of Stepantsminda. It is one of the oldest settlements in the gorge. To the north of the modern village is the village, which the locals call the Old Panchet, considers it a sacred place and holds days there.
  • The relatively old settlement of the modern village was built around two ancestral towers (Choniashvilis and Samkanashvilis). Sabauri also live in the village, they also had a ancestral tower. To the north of the village, on the road to Kazbegi, in the place of Akhadi, a so-called "sinner huts" are carved out of a rock, where the monks of the tabernacle of Bethlehem spent the winter.
  • Kazbegi municipality is rich in paving various types of expensive granites (green, brown diabase), stone deposits, inert materials (sand, gravel).

There are the following types of granite in the territory of Kazbegi municipality:

  • The gorge of the river Khdistskali is one of the most beautiful valleys with its natural conditions, where interesting representatives of both the vegetation and the animal world are spread. It is noteworthy that there is a whole cascade of waterfalls in the valley.
  • Gorge rivers are typical mountain rivers. Their feeding takes place mainly from glaciers. There are many circular, hanging and kheimi glaciers in Kazbegi district. According to the latest research, there are 99 glaciers in the Tergi basin, with a total area of ​​67.2 sq. Km. 12.6% of Georgian glaciers fall on the river Tergi basin and the area is -12.2%.
  • There are many lakes in the ravine, but they are very small. Particular attention is paid to the carbonate rocks from the carbonate rocks near the village of Abano in the Truso Valley, which form a small lake, forming small fountains 10-15 cm high and giving the impression of "boiling". 3832 m above sea level in Truso gorge.   • The gorge is rich in mineral waters of different types and compositions. In this respect, it is first of all noteworthy in the Truso gorge, north of the Jvari Pass. Mineral waters on the slope, near the village of Panshet and elsewhere.
  • The mineral spring "Katrisi" in the Truso Valley has been declared a pedagogical monument of nature. The debit of this Narzan-type hydrocarbonate calcium source is colossal.
