Tsikhisjvari is a village in Borjomi municipality. It is located in the Tori Cave, on the banks of the river Shavhtli (one of the constituents of Borjomi), 1640 meters above sea level, 41 kilometers from Borjomi.
Tsikhijvari Church
Tsikhisjvari is a climatic-balneological resort of local importance. There is a medieval architectural complex in the village: Tsikhisjvari Fortress, Nadarbazevi and a church.
- Tsikhisjvari - a historic fortress in southern Georgia, in Tori, at the headwaters of the river Shavreshli, on its right bank in the village of Tsikhisjvari (present-day Borjomi municipality).
- The fort was built on a rocky hill overlooking the riverside plain. At present, almost nothing is left of it. There was a Georgian church in the prison, hence the name of the prison and the nearby village - Tsikhisjvari. In 1861, the Greek Orthodox Church was built on the foundations of the Old Georgian Church. Tsikhisjvari was an important strategic point - at the crossroads of Samtskhe, Javakheti, Sadgeri gorge and Gujareti. The ownership of the castle helped to strengthen the feudal house of the Tories. In the late feudal era, Tsikhisjvari belonged to the Avalishvili family.
